Bulldogs land former NCAA Division III All-American wrestler

Concordia University, Nebraska Head Wrestling Coach Dana Vote will welcome 2010 NCAA Division III All-American and Buena Vista University (Iowa) transfer Austin Mogg into the fold for the 2013-14 athletic season. Mogg, who officially signed with the Bulldogs on Thursday (June 28), will redshirt his first season on campus and will then have one season of eligibility remaining beginning in the winter of 2013.

“We’re excited to have Austin because of the leadership he brings to the table and the lifestyle he lives,” Vote said. “He’s an example of the kind of leadership we want in our program. He definitely shows the direction of where we’re going, and he’s going to be a huge asset to us.”

The El Reno, Okla., native collected 92 wins while wrestling at 125 pounds in three seasons for Buena Vista, where Vote spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach. Mogg finished fifth in his weight class at the 2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships and earned All-American status.

As a prep at El Reno High School in Oklahoma, Mogg secured top-three individual finishes all four years while competing at 125 pounds. The 5-foot-6 grappler won the 125-pound title his senior season, following second-place finishes as a freshman and as a junior.
