Bulldog wrestling signs John Frerichs

The Concordia University wrestling program is excited to announce the commitment of John Frerichs of Sumner, Nebraska.  John had an outstanding prep career at Sumner-Eddyville-Miller High School.  Frerichs posted a 36-2 record as a senior, finishing third in the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships in 2011.  He is a three-time state medalist, placing 5th as a freshman and as a junior.  Frerichs had a career prep record of 140-29 and had 100 career pins.  Frerichs is expected to wrestle at either 149 or 157 pounds this season.

“I am very excited that John has decided to join us here at Concordia,” noted head coach Doug Reese.  “John was on top of our recruiting list all year.  He is a tough and talented wrestler who knows what it is like to win big matches.  He will have an outstanding career as a Bulldog.”

Frerichs joins high school teammates Traven Claflin and Cale Eacker in the Bulldog wrestling program. In addition to the wrestling team, John will also be a member of the United States Army ROTC program through Concordia and UNL.
