KEARNEY, Neb. – The Concordia University tennis squads faced what was likely their most challenging matches all season on Wednesday when they took the courts against NCAA Division II University of Nebraska-Kearney. The Lopers, ranked in the top of 10 for both men and women in the NCAA DII central region rankings, won by scores of 9-0 on both sides.

First-year head coach Joel Reckewey’s squads are now 3-7 overall on the men’s side and 2-9 overall on the women’s side.

In women’s singles action, UNK dropped only 10 total games. Concordia freshman Hannah Boe accounted for half of those. She fell by a 6-3, 6-2 score to Emily Kennel at No. 6. The Lopers then won 24 of 27 games in doubles play.

Bulldog senior Brendan Buchanan came the closest to winning a set for the men. He dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to Aaron Reekie at No. 4 singles. In doubles, the pair of junior Daniel Apacible and senior Jonathan Douglas provided the most resistance for the Lopers. They fell, 8-4.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when both the men and women play twice in the state of Kansas. Concordia will take on Central Christian College at 10 a.m. before shifting focus to Kansas Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
