SEWARD, Neb. – Seniors Annie Horn and Alison Ebel have ended their collegiate careers as all-conference honorees. Horn and Ebel were two of four Bulldogs to land on the All-GPAC teams released on Thursday (May 10) by the conference. In addition, teammates in junior Kayla Smock (singles/doubles) and freshman Claudia Miranda Viera (singles) collected honorable mention accolades.

A native of Denver, Colo., Horn developed into one of the GPAC’s top players during her junior and senior campaigns. Following a 15-4 mark last season, Horn went 13-7 in 2017-18. In GPAC action, Horn posted a 5-2 record this season with wins coming over opponents from Doane, Midland, Northwestern, Morningside and Mount Marty. Horn also earned an additional singles victory in the quarterfinals of the GPAC tournament. She ended her career with 41 singles wins.

Ebel, who hails from Billings, Mont., found a home at No. 5 singles. In regular-season conference play, she went 4-2 with victories over Doane, Midland, Northwestern and Hastings. At the GPAC tournament, Ebel went a combined 3-0 in singles and doubles. In doubles play, Ebel mostly teamed up with Smock. Together they collaborated on a doubles record of 5-1 in GPAC matches.

In singles, Miranda Viera went 5-2 versus the GPAC at No. 3 and Smock went 3-3 versus conference foes at No. 6. Smock clinched the GPAC quarterfinal team win over Doane by rallying for a three-set victory at the No. 6 spot.

Head coach Joel Reckewey’s squad advanced to the GPAC tournament semifinals last week. The season culminated with a 5-3 semifinal loss to Midland.
