SEWARD, Neb. – A key figure in last week’s win over Hastings, freshman Sofia Morales has been voted the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, as announced on Wednesday (April 7). Morales is the first Bulldog women’s player to earn the award in 2021. She and Concordia men’s player Joe Bindl made for a GPAC tennis sweep of conference honors this week.

In the 6-1 team victory over the Broncos on March 30, Morales won matches at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Up against Theresa Price in singles, Morales won by a final of 6-1, 6-2. The native of Bogota, Colombia, also paired with teammate Claudia Miranda Viera on a 6-4 triumph in doubles. Morales owns season records of 4-4 in both singles and doubles.

The Bulldogs (5-4, 2-0 GPAC) will return to action on Thursday with a 1 p.m. CT match at Baker University (Kan.).
