CRETE, Neb. – The Bulldogs stormed through Crete bearing down on Doane for a 6-1 thrashing on Wednesday (April 15). Alexa Richert clinched the team tally needed to steal a road victory and take sole ownership of second place in the conference in the final week. CUNE never trailed in the in-state matchup.
Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Tennis has won six of its last seven climbing to a 14-5 overall record and a 5-1 GPAC showing.
“Proud our players composure today all through the lineup,” Head Coach Lisa Hart said. “They competed extremely well during the big points, were very poised throughout the match start to finish and every one of our players was determined to get the win today. We knew going in that the doubles point would be important and I loved the way all three of our teams played to win from the very first point today.”
With a 3-1 lead, No. 5 Richert snatched the deciding fourth point in a straight set triumph over Isabella Casterillo (6-4, 6-1). The Campbell County High product won her 11th singles competition of 2026 and the 35th of her career breaking a two-match losing streak.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early advantage via Chakira Derman and Alana Lopez Pagan at No. 2s, with Richert and Nina Millic at No. 3s both taking their doubles sets. Chakira and Lopez Pagan won their fifth match as a pair. Richert and Millic finally ended their 0-7 drought in the clutch to defeat Castillero and Alejandra Prat, 7-5, to seal the first mark.
Keeping her conference unbeaten streak alive, Doane’s Maria Purizaca tied the score up at one apiece. The Tigers fell silent the rest of the clash as No. 3 Lopez Pagan (6-2, 6-4) and No. 2 Chakira (6-1, 6-1) performed well under pressure to spark the Bulldogs to a big lead (3-1).
With the match already decided, No. 6 Milic and No. 3 Ishane keep the good times rolling for the Bulldog blue. The Serbian needed three sets after dropping the first (4-6) to Prat. She responded with two dominant sets (6-1, 6-2). Out of Lome, Africa, Ishane won over Kat Johnson in two extremely competitive rounds (7-6(2), 7-5) to clinch her 12th of the season.
