
SEWARD, Neb. – The Bulldogs are on a high coming off their first ranked win in the modern era and will try to continue the momentum facing Hastings for their senior day matchup on Thursday (March 26). Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Tennis will then travel to the 2025 GPAC Champion Morningside (regular season) over the weekend. CUNE will honor four seniors on Thursday.

The Bulldogs are 9-4 this season with their best win coming against No. 19 William Woods University, 4-2, in their most recent match. They have other big wins over Ottawa University (6-1) and University of Saint Mary (4-1). Concordia has outscored its opponents 51-32 in points this season with a 47-23 record in singles and a 15-22 showing in paired matches.
As CUNE Women’s Tennis enters conference play, it finished in third place behind Morningside and Doane with a 4-2 record. The 2025 squad earned the third seed in the GPAC tournament but won the conference playoff as the GPAC champion. The Bulldogs defeated College of Saint Mary (4-0) in the quarterfinals and Doane (4-1) in the semis to make the final. CUNE outlasted the Mustangs in the championship with a 4-2 triumph to clinch an automatic national qualifying berth.
Senior day will honor Lauren Gottberg, Alana Lopez Pagan, Mariana Molano and Alexa Richert. Gottberg, an elementary education major, has three wins in singles and five in doubles play. Lopez Pagan, an environmental science major, has 37 career wins in singles and 33 in doubles play. Molano, a business administration major, has 46 singles wins, holding the all-time career record, and a 35-25 record in paired matches. Playing No. 1, the majority of her career, the Columbian is on pace to reach double-figure victories all four years. Richert, a business administration major, tied the single-season doubles win record last year with 15 on the year. The Gillette, Wyo., native has a 32-10 record in three years of play. She has 21 wins in her doubles career so far.
Upcoming Opponents
The Broncos are 6-6 overall and 0-1 to start conference with a two-match losing streak. They faced Doane last and fell, 3-4. The Mustangs are 18-1 with wins over Missouri Baptist University, 5-2, 6-1, McPherson College, 7-0, Huntington University, 4-2, and Bethel College, 4-0. They have three ranked ITA players including No. 3 Line Jensen, No. 58 Grace Riha and No. 72 Lara Heinrich.

Concordia will have the following week off before taking on Midland, Northwestern and Mount Marty the following weekend. The Bulldogs will host the Warriors and Red Raiders at the Bulldog Tennis Courts before traveling to South Dakota to compete against the Lancers.
