Concordia lands one semifinal, four quarterfinal finishes at GPAC Individual Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Concordia University Women’s Tennis team and its conference rivals met at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb., this past Friday and Saturday (Sept. 17-18) for the GPAC Individual Tournament. The Bulldogs came away from the two-day event with five advancements to at least the quarterfinal rounds of the singles and doubles brackets. Playing in her hometown, Julia Phillips reached the semifinals of D flight singles.

The tournament marked the second outing of the fall for Head Coach Cam Long’s women’s tennis program. Concordia also competed at the Bethany College Tournament on Sept. 11. The program is coming off a share of the 2021 GPAC regular season title.

Below is the summary of the top performances by Bulldogs at the GPAC Individual Tournament. Concordia players reached the quarterfinals in four separate singles flights and one doubles flight. While Phillips made a semifinal run, Sofia Morales (A flight), Brooke Hosick (B flight) and Katy Krejci (C flight) appeared in the quarterfinals of their respective brackets.

The Bulldogs will return to action at the ITA Central Regional Championships this Friday through Sunday at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan. Coming up yet this fall, Concordia will also go up against Wartburg College (Iowa) on Oct. 2 and William Jewell College (Mo.) on Oct. 9.
