SEWARD, Neb. – Up against undefeated NCAA Division II William Jewell College (Mo.), the Concordia University Women’s Tennis team endured a 7-0 loss on Saturday (Oct. 9). The afternoon contest marked the end of the fall season for the Bulldogs, who dropped all singles and doubles matches to the Cardinals. William Jewell dominated the bulk of the matches, although No. 1 singles proved to be a competitive battle.

A week earlier, Head Coach Cam Long’s squad earned a 5-2 home win over NCAA Division III Wartburg College (Iowa). Concordia also participated in three tournaments this fall.

Concordia’s Sofia Morales will be a tough matchup throughout the season for opposing No. 1 singles players. Morales was edged by a score of 7-5, 6-4, on Saturday. The remainder of the Bulldog singles lineup, in order, featured Tara Ferrel, Tessa Blough, Brooke Hosick, Katy Krejci and Luisa Esquivel.

In doubles, all three matches were decided by 6-1 scores. Morales teamed up with Ferrel at the No. 1 position.

Most of the 2021-22 season will take place in the spring when all GPAC matches are contested. The spring schedule will be announced soon.
