Bulldog women fall to Cardinals

LIBERTY, Mo. – The Concordia women’s tennis team was swept, 9-0 by the William Jewell College women’s team on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs fall to 0-3 this season while the Cardinals improve to 2-1.

Head coach Joel Reckewey said, “The team faced an older team with more experience from a higher conference which made it all the more challenging for them to generate a win. The women are getting better at playing together as a team which will help them in future matches.”

The number one doubles players, Annie Horn and Katelinn Wurm were outscored, 8-3 in their match. Alison Ebel and Anna Kenny were paired up in the number two spot and were topped 8-0. In the final doubles match, Kayla Smock and Katie Hertz fell, 8-1.

In the singles matches, Elizabeth Phillips got her first action of the season but was defeated 6-0, 6-0. Amanda von Seggern also competed individually for the first time this year and was bested, 6-1, 6-1.

The Bulldog women’s team will be back in action tomorrow as it takes on Baker University in Lincoln, Neb. The first serve is slated for Noon.
