SEWARD, Neb. – The Bulldogs came out hungry for another victory and tore up the Broncos with a shutout (7-0). Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Tennis would not be denied a single point as the Derman sisters waltzed to singles triumphs, only giving up one game apiece in individual play. Chakira and Ishane have both won a team high 13 matches in singles this year.

Head Coach Lisa Hart’s squad climbs to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in the GPAC.

“I thought we came out with an intensity we needed,” Coach Hart said. “We knew we just needed to be ourselves. We wanted to protect home court, and we did. We are playing really well right now, and I’m proud of the girls for not being complacent. We have a quick turnaround with Nebraska Wesleyan tomorrow, and I’m expecting the same intensity.”

No. 1 Mariana Molano sealed a decisive victory, clinching with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Josline Carter. Previously, No. 4 Ishane (6-0, 6-1) and No. 2 Chakira (6-1, 6-0) claimed quick scorchers, taking the second and third team points. Chakira has 11 consecutive singles wins in the season in her second year as a Bulldog.

In doubles, No. 3s Tessa Blough and Alexa Richert blanked (6-0) Lexi Benson and Kayleigh Cetak. No. 1s Molano and Ishane defeated their opponents (6-2) along with No. 2s Chakira and Alana Lopez Pagan (6-2).

With the match clinched, the Bulldogs stayed on the gas via No. 3 Lopez Pagan’s straight set triumph (6-2, 7-6 (5)). No. 5 Richert (6-1, 6-3) and No. 6 Nina Milic (6-3, 6-1) piled on in the shutout to keep the wins rolling in.

Concordia (13-2) will have a quick turnaround with a non-conference bout against former GPAC Nebraska Wesleyan University (8-7). The Bulldogs only have one conference match remaining against Doane next week.
