SEWARD, Neb. – Evie Keller was chosen as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 29). The league office awarded Keller with the honor after helping the Bulldogs to 2-0 showing on the week. She received the award for the first time in her career and is the first Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Soccer player to earn the selection this season.
The sophomore played all 180 minutes in the 2-0 shutout win over Doane and the 2-1 triumph against Morningside. Giving up only one score in the two games, Keller assisted the back line and goalkeeper Aaliyah Matthews to allow nine shots on goal. With the Grand Island Northwest product in the rotation, the two opposing teams shot a .056 shot percentage.
Keller has been a stalwart being in the lineup all 720 minutes possible in the defensive third as a centerback. Through eight games teams have shot .118 percentage and in conference the team has allowed two goals (T-2nd).
Concordia will host College of Saint Mary in its next match.
