SEWARD, Neb. – With a one goal lead, the Bulldogs surrendered a late equalizer to Dakota Wesleyan to reach full time in a 2-2 deadlock on Saturday (Oct. 10). An ultra-windy Bulldog Stadium made the elements tough for both squads as the back line scored all six the points for Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Soccer in the GPAC contest. Evie Keller and Charli Preister dotted strikes for their first goals of the season.

First year Head Coach Jason Weides and company keep their unbeaten streak alive, reaching double digits (10), but lose a step in the conference table with a 6-0-1 (7-2-3 overall) GPAC record.

“It was a little bit of a mixed bag,” Coach Weides said. “There were moments where we were good and moments where we weren't as great. We talked about how we're not defined by seconds or by anything else. We just have to keep showing up. When you're playing at a championship level, you get punched in the face, get back up and keep going. I think this team recognizes that maybe we let one slip through our fingers a little bit, but we're going to stay the course. It doesn't change what we're trying to do.”

In the 88th minute, Dakota Wesleyan’s Arlette Montañez dashed the hopes of the home side, pushing the game-tying score past Concordia’s final line. The usual rock-solid defense had a chink in its armor, and made mistakes on the book ends of the contest which proved to be enough for the visitors to equalize.

Despite the blemishes, the Bulldogs controlled the attacking numbers with a 7-3 shot on goal advantage and an 8-2 corner kick showing.

Two corners eventually found the back of the net as Keller (33rd minute) then Preister (47th minute) were on the end of each score. The two centerbacks used headers to notch points as Keller scored her second career, Preister her sixth.

Coach Weides continued, “Charlie is one of the best in the air in our conference, and I think she's got a lot of goals in her. It's fun to see her get her first goal in that position. Evie is dangerous, too. She scored a ton of goals in high school, so we feel like we can get goals from all positions.”

Both set pieces began with big time swings from Triniti Rowe in the corner as she tallied two assists. After 50 games played on the back line, the junior, out of Millard South, marked three points (all assists) in her career, all in 2026.

Preister (three), Keller (two) and Sadie Mares (two) were the lead shot takers. The Bulldogs were without starting midfielder Kianna Perez and Abigail Allen was pulled from the game following an injury.

Another pivotal conference matchup is set for Wednesday (Oct. 14) against Hastings (10-1-2, 5-0-1 GPAC) as the winner will have a clear advantage to win the regular season going into the final leg of the GPAC. The two juggernauts will take the field at 5:30 p.m. CT in Seward. They split two games last season as the Bulldogs won, 2-1, in the regularly scheduled contest. The Broncos took game two, 2-1, in overtime of the GPAC tournament semifinals.
