Bulldogs fall in GPAC opener, 1-0

Northwestern College picked up a 1-0 women’s soccer win over Concordia on Saturday afternoon in Seward to spoil the conference opener for the Bulldogs.  The Red Raiders improved to 3-5-0 overall and 1-1 in GPAC play with the win.  Concordia slipped to 4-3-0 overall and 0-1 in the GPAC with the loss. 

Both teams totaled 14 shots in the match.  Midway through the first half, Alyssa Duren scored off an assist by Stephanie Wilcox to give the visiting Raiders the slim one-goal advantage.  Concordia had multiple opportunities to tie the game, but Northwestern goalie Ariel Watts made seven saves on the day to secure the win for the Raiders. 

Annaliese Frye and Alli Dunkelberger each had three shots to lead the way for the Raiders.  Jordan Donohoue had three shots to lead Concordia.  Bulldog goalie Ariel Harris made seven saves in a losing effort for the Bulldogs. 

Concordia travels to Dakota Wesleyan University on September 25 for a 1 pm contest against the Tigers.
