Six weightlifters set to represent Concordia at 2024 National University Championships

SEWARD, Neb. – A group of six Bulldogs are preparing to represent the Concordia University Weightlifting program at the 2024 National University Championships. The event will run from Feb. 29 through March 3 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Sponsored by USA Weightlifting, the event is part of the Arnold Sports Festival and is scheduled to include 342 athletes.

Head Coach Freddie Myles took four athletes to the 2023 National University Championships. Sophomore Evan Fukuhara (67kg) is set to compete on the national stage for the second year in a row. The other qualifiers are Michael Davidge, Nolan Graupmann, Adrian Hernandez, Gracy Johnson and Cody Monsevais.

·        67kg – Evan Fukuhara (Sacramento, Calif.)

·        71kg – Gracy Johnson (Coon Rapids, Iowa)

·        89kg – Michael Davidge (Grapevine, Texas)

·        89kg – Cody Monsevais (Austin, Texas)

·        102kg – Nolan Graupmann (Goddard, Kan.)

·        109kg – Adrian Hernandez (Grand Island, Neb.)

The season to date has included the Heartland Strength Omaha Classic (Sept. 16) and the Iowa Championships (Nov. 4). In addition, Fukuhara competed at the North American Open Finals in December and emerged the 67kg championship while totaling 256kg, beating out a field of 27 athletes. Fukuhara also took first place in his weight class at the Iowa Championships. As part of that same event, Davidge and Hernandez claimed titles and Mary Berris placed second.
