SEWARD, Neb. – Now it’s official. Crete, Neb., native Murphy Sears already knew she had earned all-conference accolades based on her top 10 conference placement. On Friday (May 11), Sears appeared on the 15-player All-GPAC women’s golf team released by the conference. The GPAC recognizes the top 10 finishers from the conference championships as well as five wild cards selected by the league coaches.

With GPAC champion Amy Ahlers having graduated, Sears took over the top spot in the lineup throughout the 2017-18 campaign. An 11th-place GPAC finisher as a freshman last season, Sears moved up to eighth as a sophomore with her four-round total of 85-86-84-83–338. She made waves on a national scale when she shot a career low 73, won the CSM/Midland Invite and was named the GPAC and NAIA National Golfer of the Week on April 11. Over 14 rounds in 2017-18, Sears carded a team low scoring average of 83.36 with five top 10 placements, including her first career tournament title.

Sears has competed in 29 rounds during her collegiate career, averaging a score of 85.21. With the help or her aforementioned one-over-par 73 on April 5, Sears powered the Bulldogs to a team season best 343 and third-place finish at the CSM/Midland Invite. She is on track to do something Ahlers also accomplished – achieve all-conference status all four years.
