GPAC Release

SEWARD, Neb. – The first collegiate tournament victory of sophomore Kendra Placke’s career led to a major award. On Wednesday (Sept. 25), the conference announced Placke as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Golfer of the Week. Placke is the first Bulldog golfer to garner the GPAC weekly accolade this fall.

Placke continues to star at the top of head coach Brett Muller’s lineup. The Seward High School product shot an eight-over-par 79 at last week’s Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Classic. That score put her in a three-way tie for first, necessitating a playoff hole that Placke won with a birdie. Placke also helped pave the way for the Bulldogs to take the team title at the NWU Classic with a score of 337 (five strokes off a school record). Placke was the program’s first individual tournament winner since Murphy Sears at the CSM/Midland Invite on April 5, 2018, while the Bulldogs picked up their first tournament title since the College of Saint Mary Spring Invite in April 2016.

A former Nebraska state champion, Placke keeps raising the bar. Placke has placed in the top five in eight of her first 11 events as a Bulldog. She also owns an impressive career scoring average of 81.72 (18 rounds) with her a career low round of 75. Placke placed fifth in the GPAC as a freshman. Placke’s career average isn’t far off of the school record of 80.82 by Amy Ahlers (2017 graduate). Ahlers won the GPAC individual title her senior year and qualified for the NAIA national championships.

Placke and the Bulldogs are back in action today (Sept. 25) at a match play event in Sioux City, Iowa. The fall season for Concordia women’s golf will conclude next week (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) with the first two rounds of the GPAC Championships, which will be played at The Bluffs in Vermillion, S.D.
