
ORANGE CITY, Iowa – Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf returned to action following its school record-setting performance two weeks ago. The Bulldogs were unable to duplicate that success on Tuesday (Sept. 8) while navigating Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa, where round one of the Siouxland Invite took place. Individually, junior Savannah McFalls shot a 13-over-par 85 as Concordia’s top performer.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad set new program standards at the season opening Mount Marty Invite when it shot 335-318–653. In Tuesday’s round in northwest Iowa, the Bulldogs produced team scores of 346 by the ‘A’ team and 375 by the ‘B’ team.
The Bennington High School product McFalls currently rests in a tie for 32nd (out of 87 players) on the Siouxland Invite individual leaderboard. McFalls was joined in the varsity lineup by familiar names in sophomores Olivia James (86; T-38th) and Amelia Ptacnik (86; T-38th), graduate student Maddie Lewis (89; T-49th) and junior Makenzie Hughes (93; T-57th).
Meanwhile, freshman Mia Ochsner led the B squad by shooting an 88 (T-46th), a significant improvement from her first college tournament at Mount Marty. The remainder of the lineup featured freshmen Emma Anderson (94; T-60th) and Lucy Nothwehr (95; T-64th), sophomore Brielle Cook (98; T-70th) and senior Abigail Kollbaum (105; 81st).
The field at the Siouxland Invite is made up largely of GPAC competitors. Heading into round two, the team leaders are Park University (Mo.) (317), Doane (318), Dordt (321), Morningside (322) and Northwestern (326).
