CAIRO, Neb. – As the second and final round of the annual Nebraska Intercollegiate concluded on Tuesday, Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf remained in fourth place. Paced by three top 20 individual finishers, the Bulldogs shot 340-337–677 (+101) over the two-day (Oct. 5-6) event staged at Centura Hills Golf Club in Cairo, Neb., where sunny and warm conditions prevailed. Sophomore Olivia James finished one stroke outside the top 10.

The Nebraska Intercollegiate marked the end of the fall season for Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad. The month of September included two tournament titles and two opportunities to ring the bell.

“Coming in for us, we knew Concordia, UNK, Wayne State and Doane were probably the top four teams on the women's side,” Muller said. “Our goal for day one was to stay in that top-four pairing for day two, and we did that. Then we were within striking distance of Doane to finish as the top school from the GPAC, but unfortunately, we were really plagued today by big numbers, and that was ultimately the difference in achieving that goal. We did have some good individual scores. I thought Olivia James had a very nice tournament.”

Concordia had hoped to come away with at least one top 10 medal after Emery Custer (sixth) and Maddie Lewis (eighth) earned awards at the 2025 Nebraska Intercollegiate. The Kearney High School product James made a push for a top 10 spot as she improved by four strokes on Tuesday and shot 84-80–164 (+20) for the tournament. Three Bulldogs placed in succession with James 14th, Lewis 15th (85-80–165) and junior Savannah McFalls tied for 16th (80-87–167). McFalls shot an eight-over-par 80 in breezier conditions on Monday.

The final two spots in the lineup were held down by sophomore Amelia Ptacnik (91-90–181; 27th) and freshman Mia Ochsner (100-91–191; T-33rd). Ochsner was coming off a third-place claim at the York Invite two weeks earlier.

Overall, Muller believes the fall season was a positive one for the Bulldogs. Said Muller, “It's not the end of the world for us team-wise. We definitely have some things we can improve on, but I look forward to us competing in the offseason, getting ready and preparing so we're ready in the spring.”

The top three teams at the Nebraska Intercollegiate were University of Nebraska-Kearney (601), Wayne State College (608) and Doane (644). Concordia placed in front of GPAC rivals Hastings (693), College of Saint Mary (707) and Midland (926).
