RESULTS: Golf Genius (GGID = MMUW25)
YANKTON, S.D. – The 2025-26 season has begun in record-breaking fashion for Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf. Senior Emery Custer and her teammates set a new program standard for a single round while sizzling on day one of the Mount Marty Invite played at Fox Run Golf Course on Thursday (Aug. 28). Custer flirted with an individual school record of her own as she returns after a First Team All-GPAC junior season.
In beginning year 15 of Head Coach Brett Muller’s tenure, the Bulldogs shot 320 in the season’s first round. The previous school record had been 324, achieved in April 2021. With the school record in round one at Mount Marty, Concordia stands in third place on the team leaderboard behind only Morningside (300) and Doane (318).
The Broken Bow, Neb., native Custer shot an even par 72 on Thursday and sits in second place, five strokes out of first place on the Mount Marty Invite leaderboard. Only one competitor in program history has ever shot below 72 – 2017 graduate Amy Ahlers (who shot 71 three times), a Concordia Athletics Hall of Famer. Custer was followed in the Concordia ‘A’ team lineup by sophomore Savannah McFalls (81), freshman Olivia James (83), senior Maddie Lewis (84) and freshman Amelia Ptacnik (84). McFalls shattered her previous career best of 84 from her freshman season. Custer’s former career low had been 76.
A total of 10 Bulldogs entered into the tournament in Yankton. The Concordia ‘B’ team features sophomores Audra Poffinbarger (89) and Makenzie Hughes (91), juniors Emma McCoy (96) and Abigial Kollbaum (105) and freshman Brielle Cook (109). The 89 for Poffinbarger equaled a career low.
The former school record of 324 came at the 2021 Concordia Spring Invite. The contributors to that total were Kendra Placke, Mia Martin, Andrea Peterson, Lauren Havlat and Logan Eschliman.
The Mount Marty Invite will resume at 10 a.m. CT on Friday from Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton. Live results can be followed via the Golf Genius app.
