OMAHA, Neb. – Both sophomore Emery Custer and fifth-year Logan Eschliman found their way into the top 10 on the final individual leaderboard at the College of Saint Mary Spring Invited held in Omaha, Neb., on Thursday (April 11). Their efforts helped the Concordia University Women’s Golf team to a third-place finish out of eight squads in the field that navigated the Tiburon Golf Club course. Six of the eight groupings were made up of GPAC competitors.

Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad carded a score of 372 at the CSM Invite while placing behind only Morningside (350) and Doane (366). There were 50 total players who completed the one-round event.

“Emery played very well today and Logan did as well,” Muller said. “It was great to see both place in the top 10. On the team side, finishing third is probably about what you’d expect with the teams there today. We just need to continue to minimize the big numbers and keep improving.”

The Broken Bow, Neb., native Custer has placed inside the top five in two of the past three tournaments. She shot a 14-over-par 86 on Thursday while landing in fourth place on another windy spring day. She finished four strokes off the tournament champion. Meanwhile, the Lincoln Lutheran High School alum Eschliman turned in a 91 and tied for eighth place. It marked Eschliman’s first top-10 claim of the 2023-24 season. Custer and Eschliman repeated as top 10 place finishers at the CSM Invite, having accomplished the same feat in 2023.

Eight Bulldogs competed at the CSM Invite. Seniors Mya Nurse (97; T-19th) and Jennifer Gillotti (98; T-22nd) held down the Nos. 3 and 4 spots in the lineup and contributed to the team score. The remainder of Concordia golfers in Omaha were sophomore Ericka Kroeker (103; T-33rd), freshman Abigail Kollbaum (108; T-40th), sophomore Maddie Lewis (108; T-40th) and junior Sarah Wilson (113; 47th).

As a team, the Bulldogs have placed third in two spring tournaments: the Graceland Invitational and CSM Invite. Through 15 rounds in 2023-24, Concordia holds a scoring average of 359.3.
