2025 GPAC Championships Results
CAIRO, Neb. – Junior Emery Custer made a run at a championship and the Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf team put together its best performances of the season at the 2025 GPAC Women’s Golf Championships. When the dust settled on Tuesday (April 29) at Centura Hills Golf Club in Cairo, Neb., the Bulldogs finished in seventh place, a three-spot slip from their standing after day one of the conference tournament. Three total GPAC rounds were played over two days in Cairo.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad shot 332-329-343–1,004 for the event for a 47-stroke improvement compared to the program’s GPAC tournament total from 2024. The two 18-hole team scores turned in on Monday represented the two lowest rounds for Concordia during the 2024-25 season.
“I’m very proud of our team,” Muller said. “When we look back, we shot three of our lowest five tournament rounds at the conference championship with our two lowest scores being on day one. That was great to see. I feel like we’ve had a lot of potential all year – we just hadn’t quite put it all together. That’s what I felt like we did in yesterday’s two rounds. Obviously, today was a little disappointing sliding down the team leaderboard.”
A returning All-GPAC performer from Broken Bow, Neb., Custer recorded the highest individual GPAC place finish by a Bulldog since Kendra Placke placed third in 2021-22. Following Monday’s two rounds, Custer sat just two strokes out of first place and still stood a chance of climbing to the top in the final nine holes of the tournament. Custer eventually settled into fifth place as she shot 80-77-79–236 (+20) at Centura Hills. The GPAC champion from Dakota Wesleyan finished at +13. Custer moved up 11 spots from her 16th place finish at the 2024 GPAC tournament.
Said Muller of Custer’s performance, “Very proud of Emery’s growth as a player, especially in the second semester. She got off to a pretty rough start in round one. Her first six or seven holes wasn’t to the level of her expectations. She was able battle back from that and put herself in position to make a charge with nine holes left. I’m very proud of her.”
Three of Custer’s teammates also qualified for the overall individual leaderboard (by playing all three rounds of the event). Junior Maddie Lewis (83-83-87–253) and freshman Savannah McFalls (84-85-85–254) both claimed spots within the top 30. Meanwhile, senior Jennifer Gillotti placed 39th (85-84-92–261). Each of the top four in the Bulldog lineup easily outperformed season averages entering the conference tournament. Freshman Audra Poffinbarger (93 in both rounds two and three) and senior Sarah Wilson (98 in round one) shared the No. 5 spot in the GPAC Championships lineup.
