Concordia resides in third place halfway through Nebraska Intercollegiate

FREMONT, Neb. – State bragging rights are on the line this week as the Nebraska Intercollegiate unfolds at Fremont Golf Club in Fremont, Neb. With 18 of 36 holes in the books, Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf resides in third place among the seven Nebraska collegiate squads in the field. Seniors Emery Custer and Maddie Lewis sit in the top 15 individually following a rainy and chilly Monday (Oct. 6) of action.

Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad shot a team total of 344. The Bulldogs trail only Wayne State College (313) and Doane (323) while outplaying GPAC rivals College of Saint Mary (347) and Hastings (372).

A Broken Bow, Neb., native, Custer has placed in the top five of every tournament so far this fall. In Monday’s round, she shot 11-over-par 82, putting her five strokes behind the Nebraska Intercollegiate leader, Saffire Sayre of Wayne State. Custer is on track for an improvement from her 21st place finish at the 2024 Nebraska Intercollegiate. Custer birdied hole 15 in Monday’s round. A fellow senior, the Treynor, Iowa, native Lewis birdied 15 and 16 on her way to shooting an 85, good for 14th place out of 36 golfers.

The top four in the Bulldog lineup shot below 90. Freshman Olivia James carded an 88 (tied for 16th) and sophomore Savannah McFalls posted an 89 (tied for 19th). Rounding out the lineup, freshman Amelia Ptacnik shot 94 on Monday.

Entering the Nebraska Intercollegiate, Concordia had placed second in each of its first four tournaments of the fall. The team’s 18-hole season average coming into the day was 332.5.
