
CAIRO, Neb. – The Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Golf team saved its best for the GPAC Championships. In the first two rounds of the three-round 2025 conference tournament, Concordia scorched Centura Hills Golf Club in Cairo, Neb., by shooting 332-329–661, positioning itself in fourth place with 18 holes to be played. The top four players in the Bulldogs lineup each carded scores of 85 or lower in both rounds of action on Monday (April 28).
Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad trails only Dakota Wesleyan (644), Doane (644) and Morningside (656) in the team race. Individually, junior Emery Custer has put herself in the running for a conference championship. She resides in third place, just two strokes behind the GPAC leader.
Led by the Broken Bow, Neb., native Custer, Concordia shot well below its season average of 353.1 on a windy and warm day in the small town of Cairo. Looking to move up from 16th place in the GPAC last season, Custer shot 80-77–157 (+13) while challenging her career low (76) in round two on Monday. Meanwhile, junior Maddie Lewis and senior Jennifer Gillotti both challenged career low rounds (81 for Lewis and 82 for Gillotti) and freshman Savannah McFalls equaled a personal best with her 84 over the first 18 holes at Centura Hills.
Custer is situated behind only Dakota Wesleyan’s Allison Meyerink (155) and Morningside’s Alysen Sander (156) heading into the conference’s final round. In a major highlight of day one, Custer eagled hole 2 in round one. Meanwhile, Lewis (83-83–166; T-17th), McFalls (84-85–169; T-24th) and Gillotti (85-84–169; T-24th) have placed themselves in the top 25 among 57 conference golfers that completed both rounds on Monday. Additionally, senior Sarah Wilson (98) and freshman Audra Poffinbarger (93) shared the No. 5 spot in the Concordia lineup.

In the team race, the Bulldogs are five strokes out of third place and four strokes in front of fifth-place College of Saint Mary (665) with Briar Cliff (666) lurking close behind. Concordia aims for a significant climb up the conference ladder after placing ninth in 2024. The program’s most recent top-four finish came in 2021 when it placed third behind standout Kendra Placke.
