2023-24 Concordia Women’s Basketball Schedule
SEWARD, Neb. – Another season of Concordia University Women’s Basketball will tip off at the 24th annual Cattle Classic. The program has unveiled a 2023-24 slate complete with 28 varsity regular season games. Highlights outside of league play include a Christmas break trip to Arizona and home matchups with 2023 NAIA national qualifiers Marian University (Ind.) and Sterling College (Kan.). The ’23-24 campaign will mark year 18 of Head Coach Drew Olson’s tenure. As of the initial schedule release on June 1, the junior varsity schedule was still being finalized.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 2022-23 season that saw them finish at 20-12 overall and reach the round of 32 of the NAIA national tournament. The program appeared at the national tournament for the 12th year in a row. Concordia will return each of its five All-GPAC honorees from this past season: Taysha Rushton (first team), Abby Krieser (second team), Sadie Powell (second team), Kendal Brigham (honorable mention) and Mackenzie Toomey (honorable mention). Rushton has been named an Honorable Mention All-American in back-to-back years.
The Cattle Classic will play out Nov. 3-4 and will again feature a loaded field made up exclusively of national qualifiers as Concordia will be joined at Friedrich Arena by Dakota State University (S.D.), Marian and Sterling. The Bulldogs will take on both Marian and Sterling at the event. Marian reached the national quarterfinals in 2023. Just before Christmas (Dec. 18-19), Concordia will head west to play Embry-Riddle University in Prescott, Ariz., and Arizona Christian University in Glendale, Ariz. The nonconference schedule is rounded out by the 71st Concordia Invitational Tournament, which will be hosted by Concordia Wisconsin on Jan. 26-27, 2024.
Per usual, the GPAC slate gets started in mid-November. The Bulldogs will begin conference play by hosting Morningside on Nov. 15. Concordia will match up with defending GPAC regular season champion Dordt on Jan. 13 (home) and Feb. 17 (away). The regular season will wrap up at home with clashes against in-state foes Hastings and Midland during the final week. Dates for the 2024 GPAC tournament are Feb. 28 for the quarterfinals, March 2 for the semifinals and March 5 for the championship game. NAIA national tournament action is slated for March 15-16 for the first/second rounds and March 21-26 for play in Sioux City, Iowa, at the final site.
