
SEWARD, Neb. – Concordia University, Nebraska Women’s Basketball will take its unblemished record (7-0, 3-0 GPAC) to Yankton and line up against Mount Marty in its lone contest this Tuesday (Nov. 25). The No. 11 Bulldogs counted two more marks in their win column, getting the better of College of Saint Mary (96-44) and Northwestern (88-66) in their last bouts. This 2025-26 season has been the best start since the 2019-20 campaign.

By the numbers
· The Bulldogs jumped out on the Flames forcing 39 turnovers eventually leading to a gigantic lead by halftime (47-18). Twelve different Concordia players collected at least one steal (19 total) as the entire roster took turns making contributions. In addition to her 16 points, Sammy Leu posted four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Three of her teammates recorded exactly 12 points: JJ Jones (five rebounds), Makynna Robbins (five rebounds) and Kristin Vieselmeyer. The senior from Holyoke, Colo., Vieselmeyer added eight rebounds and two blocks to her stat line. The Dawgs hit 30 points in the final quarter to extend their biggest lead to 54 points.
· The contest against the Red Raiders became the freshman Ayla Roth’s coming out party scoring a game-high 19 points, four assists, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Two others had four assists including Savannah Butterfield and Jones. A 15-2 second-quarter run gave Concordia a 39-23 lead before the mid-point break. The Bulldog would answer every drive by Northwestern that would end with a 22-point advantage. Kelty (14), Leu (11) and Bunting (10) eclipsed double-digit scoring in the 40 minutes. The disruptive press forced 22 turnovers in Orange City.
· The team's top four scorers have averaged double figures: Vieselmeyer (13.6), Leu (11.1), Bunting (10.4) and Roth (10.4). Savannah Butterfield and Juliana Jones are just behind with 8.0 apiece. The team is showing off on the offensive end with 99.6 points per game (fourth in NAIA) over the first seven outings. Shooting 47.7 percent (15th in NAIA) from the field, the Bulldogs average 34.7 made baskets and 11.4 3-point field goals per game. From the foul line, the women’s basketball lineup has dropped 76.4 percent so far.
· Junior guards Sammy Leu and Bree Bunting have shown to have made major strides over the offseason. In Leu’s first two seasons, she averaged less than six points a game but has shelled out 11.1 through the first seven games of her third campaign. The Wahoo High alum has averaged 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.3 assists. Bunting, out of Kersey, Colo., has improved every year, scoring 2.2 as a freshman, 4.0 as a sophomore and 10.4 thus far as a junior. The 5-9 guard Bunting has dropped 51.7 percent from the field.
· The stout defense is second in the NAIA averaging 20.9 steals and 32.9 forced turnovers a contest, which ranks 3rd in the NAIA stats sheets. If teams are preparing to shoot, the Dawgs have made teams unable to rise clean, blocking 4.3 per contest and are just inside the top-25 (20th). Concordia has seldom given up defensive boards to opponents with 23.5 averaged (second in GPAC). Kelty (5.7), Robbins (5.2) and Vieselmeyer (4.4) pace the team in rebounds. Three Bulldogs have totaled two-plus swipes a contest, including Leu (3.0), Kelty (2.0) and Gabrielle Wagner (2.0).
· With one of the more under-the-radar stats, Vieselmeyer is the only one of 16 players to be on the floor 20 minutes a game. Time has been spread on the floor as 12 players have spent over 10 minutes a game in each contest. Over the 15-minute mark are starters Vieselmeyer (20.0), Kelty (19.1), Leu (19.3), Bree Bunting (18.1) and Roth (16.9). Others getting more of the significant ticks off the clock are Wagner (14.7), Butterfield (14.3), Sara Harley (13.7) and Jones (12.9).

The opponent
The Lancers are an improved 6-1 with their only loss coming from the hands of the defending national champion Dordt (82-56). Mount Marty responded with wins at Midland (76-37) and Morningside (86-83). Averaging 91.9 points per contest, MMU shoots at a 44.6 clip and 34.1 percent from three. Pulling down 47.7 boards a game (first in GPAC), the Lancers are led Motely Alexus (7.3), Lacey Sprakel (6.6), and Alexis Folkers (4.7) in rebounds. Senior Sprakel is out front in buckets with 15.4 points per game. Kaela Martinez (11.3) and Alexus Motley (10.1) are also in double figures. Folkers delivers 3.5 assists and 3.2 steals as well. The team makes 72.4 percent from the charity stripe.
