Bulldogs set for Holiday Classic Tournament at Kansas Wesleyan
The Concordia University women’s basketball team travels to Kansas Wesleyan for the Holiday Classic Tournament from December 31-January 1 in Salina, Kansas. The Bulldogs are 7-5 on the year and will face Bethany College and Kansas Wesleyan in the tournament.
The Bulldogs battle Bethany College on December 31 at 7 pm. Concordia picked up an easy 89-44 win over the Swedes earlier this season. Five players scored in double figures, led by Beth Kohmetscher’s (Deweese, Neb.) 13 points off the bench. Kristin Miller (Jefferson City, Mo.) and Amber Kistler (Minatare, Neb.) added 12 apiece, while Lori Laboda (Parker, Colo.) and Katie Herther (Sioux Falls, S.D.) each chipped in with 10. The Bulldogs shot an even 50 percent from the field and held Bethany College to 13-of-44 (29.5 percent) shooting for the game. Concordia totaled 21 steals and forced 35 Bethany College turnovers in the win.
On January 1 at 4 pm, Concordia will take on the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan University. KWU, ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, is a perfect 13-0 on the season. Kansas Wesleyan held on for a 78-75 win over Concordia on November 13 in the Cattle Classic Tournament. Amber Kistler scored 26 points for the Bulldogs, but 21 Concordia turnovers proved costly in the loss. LaCole Wilkinson poured in a game-high 27 points for the Coyotes.
