#22 Concordia opens GPAC play on Saturday at Mount Marty

The Concordia University women’s basketball team opens conference play this weekend with a road contest at Mount Marty College.  Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Yankton.  Live stats for the game will be available through the Mount Marty website; http://www.mtmc.edu/athletics/index.aspx


Concordia takes a 5-0 record into Saturday’s contest.  The 22nd ranked Bulldogs have cruised through the first five games of the season.  Concordia picked up an easy 82-52 win over College of St. Mary on November 8.  The Bulldogs then picked up wins over William Penn (86-70) and Bethel College (83-53) in the Cattle Classic Tournament last weekend.  So far this season, Concordia scores 79.6 points per game while allowing just 51.8.  The Bulldogs have forced 156 turnovers in the first five games of the season. 

Mount Marty is 5-2 on the young season.  The Lancers have wins over Oglala Lakota College (101-42), William Penn (89-68), Dakota State (70-49), Jamestown (81-74 OT) and Grace University (92-44).  Mount Marty has losses to Bethel (70-55) and Valley City (54-51).  The Lancers average 77 points per game while allowing 57.3. 

Following Saturday’s contest, Concordia returns home to host Nebraska Wesleyan in the home conference opener on November 22.
