2021-22 Concordia Women’s Basketball Schedule

SEWARD, Neb. – On the heels of another national tournament run, the Concordia University Women’s Basketball program looks forward to playing a standard schedule this coming winter. Head Coach Drew Olson and the Bulldogs have unveiled a 30-game regular season slate for the 2021-22 campaign (as of June 18). The season is slated to begin inside Friedrich Arena for a matchup with Bellevue University on Nov. 1.

This past season, Olson led Concordia to a 22-9 overall record and GPAC runner-up finishes in both the regular season and postseason. The Bulldogs then advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA national tournament. They knocked off fifth-ranked Marian University (Ind.) in the round of 16 behind All-American Taylor Cockerill. The star guard earned first team All-GPAC honors along with teammate Taysha Rushton. Mackenzie Koepke and Rilee Pauli were named honorable mention all-conference recipients.

This season’s nonconference schedule features plenty of challenges and should also lend to exciting atmospheres. After a year hiatus, the Concordia Invitational returns in 2022 with the event coming back to Friedrich Arena on Jan. 28-29. A major highlight of the schedule will be the journey to Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Hawaii Classic (Dec. 18-19) just prior to Christmas. In addition, the Bulldogs will host Sterling College (Kan.) and Dakota State University (S.D.) as part of the annual Cattle Classic and will travel to Plainview, Texas, in late November for a matchup with Wayland Baptist University. Nonconference foes Dakota State, Sterling College (Kan.) and Wayland Baptist were 2021 national qualifiers.

GPAC action will get started on Nov. 13 with a trip to Briar Cliff. Battles with defending GPAC champion Morningside are slated for Dec. 1 (Sioux City) and Jan. 19 (Seward). Prior to last season, Concordia swept GPAC regular season and postseason championships for four-straight years. Under Olson’s direction, the program has captured a total of 12 GPAC titles (six regular season, six postseason).

Dates for the GPAC tournament are set for Feb. 23 for the quarterfinals, Feb. 26 for the semifinals and March 1 for the championship game. The opening round of the national tournament will take place March 11-12 with action at the final site (Sioux City) running from March 17-22.
