SEWARD, Neb. – One stellar outing this past week has led to recognition for a standout freshman member of the Concordia University, Nebraska Volleyball team. As announced by the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 16), libero Emma Brueggemann has been named GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player of the Week. Brueggemann earned distinction for her performance in the straight sets win over College of Saint Mary on Sept. 10.
A Hebron, Neb., native and Thayer Central High School alum, Brueggemann starred in the back row in last week’s victory as the Flames hit in the red (-.016). She tallied 23 digs, five assists and an ace, helping the second-ranked Bulldogs improve to 9-1 overall (2-0 GPAC). The 23 digs are a season high over Brueggemann’s first six matches to begin her career. She has notched 84 digs in 17 sets this season.
Concordia will return to action inside Friedrich Arena on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. CT home clash with No. 17 Midland (7-5, 2-0 GPAC). The Bulldogs will also play at Doane on Saturday.
