SEWARD, Neb. – For the second time in three weeks, freshman libero Emma Brueggemann has been honored by the GPAC. On Tuesday (Sept. 30), the league office honored the Concordia University, Nebraska Volleyball standout as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player of the Week. As a team, the second-ranked Bulldogs have racked up seven GPAC player of the week awards in 2025.
A Hebron, Neb., native and Thayer Central High School alum, Brueggemann played a key role in home victories last week over Hastings and Dordt. Over those two wins (both coming in straight sets), Brueggemann compiled 36 digs (6.0 per set), 23 service receptions and an ace. Brueggemann and company limited Hastings (.054) and Dordt (.049) to hitting percentages south of .100. All six of Concordia’s GPAC opponents so far this season have hit below .100. On the season, Brueggemann has tallied 152 digs (4.90 per set). Heading into the fall, Brueggemann was undecided on her major.
The Bulldogs (13-1, 6-0 GPAC) will put their conference winning streak of 16 matches (dating back to last season) on the line this weekend as they take on both Morningside and Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa.
