Doane College sweeps past Concordia

Doane College made quick work of Concordia University with a 3-0 GPAC volleyball sweep on Wednesday evening in Crete.  Scores of the match were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-17. 

It was the final regular season game for each team.  The Tigers improved to 23-5 overall and 14-2 in the GPAC with the win.  Concordia lost its eighth straight match to fall to 11-20 overall and 1-15 in GPAC play.

Sloan Brandon had six kills to lead the way offensively for Concordia.  Chelsea Vaudt and Alex Szalawiga added five kills apiece, while Ashlea Vaudt added four kills.  Nico Ethofer had a match-high 11 digs, and Alexa Hopping handed out a team-high 11 assists for the Bulldogs. 

Ashley Axmann and Emily Max each pounded 11 kills to lead Doane.  Terra Andreasen and Susan Rollman added nine kills apiece for a balanced Doane attack.  Heather Davison had 35 set assists for the Tigers in the win.   

The Bulldogs begin GPAC Tournament play on November 6.  Concordia travels to Morningside College for a 7:30 pm match against the Mustangs.
