Concordia picks up first conference win with sweep of Mount Marty College

Concordia University picked up its first conference win of the season with a 3-0 volleyball win over Mount Marty College on Saturday afternoon in Yankton.  The Bulldogs moved to 11-12 overall and 1-7 in the GPAC with the win.  Mount Marty dropped to 4-13 overall and remained winless in the GPAC at 0-9. 

Chelsea Vaudt and Ashlea Vaudt each pounded eight kills to lead a balanced Concordia hitting attack.  Sloan Brandon added seven kills and a team-high 11 digs, while Alex Szalawiga put down six kills and totaled 10 digs in the match.  Alexa Hopping had a match-high 19 set assists, and Kaylie Mellema handed out 12 assists for the Bulldogs. 

Maggie Goree had a match-high 11 kills for the Lancers.  Carlie Lambert and Kate Lingscheit added five kills apiece.  Kayla Ranek had a match-high 20 digs, and Tina Rowbotham had 15 set assists for Mount Marty. 

Concordia travels to Morningside College on October 12.  Matches are scheduled for 6 and 7:30 in Sioux City.
