Concordia falls at Dordt College, 3-0

Dordt College cruised to an easy 3-0 GPAC volleyball win over Concordia on Monday evening in Sioux Center.  Scores of the match were 25-10, 25-11 and 25-19.  The host Defenders moved to 29-5 overall with a 10-3 record in the GPAC with the win.  The struggles continued for the Bulldogs, who dropped their fifth straight to fall to 11-17 overall and 1-12 in conference play. 

Dordt dominated the match, finishing with a .347 attack percentage compared to just .042 for Concordia.  Kendra Potgeter had a match-high 11 kills and added six assisted blocks on the night for the Defenders.  Danae Geels added 10 kills, while Dorinda Hibma had a match-high 12 digs defensively.  Jessica DeStigter totaled 15 set assists, and Bekah Posthuma handed out 11 assists for the Defenders in the victory. 

Chelsea Vaudt had a team-high nine kills for Concordia.  Marlee Denton chipped in with five kills, while Ashlea Vaudt added four kills on the night.  Alex Szalawiga finished with nine digs to lead the team.  Nico Ethofer added eight digs, and Kaylie Mellema had seven set assists for the Bulldogs. 

Concordia hosts Hastings College on Wednesday evening.  The junior varsity match is scheduled for 6 pm with the varsity match to follow at the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center.
