SEWARD, Neb. – For the third consecutive week, Concordia University Volleyball senior Bree Burtwistle has been named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Setter of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday (Sept. 19). Burtwistle also garnered the NAIA National Setter of the Week award on Sept. 5. Teammate Gabi Nordaker also earned the GPAC Attacker of the Week honor back on Aug. 29.
Burtwistle led the undefeated Bulldogs (11-0, 4-0 GPAC) to wins last week over Doane and No. 9 College of Saint Mary. Over those two outings, Burtwistle totaled 85 assists (12.14 per set), 25 digs, seven kills and five blocks. As a team, Concordia hit a combined .300 for the week. In the four-set resume-building win at CSM, Burtwistle produced 50 assists and 20 digs.
On the year, Burtwistle is averaging 11.35 assists per set (third most among NAIA setters). She facilitates an attack that ranks No. 2 nationally in hitting percentage (.303). For her career, the Stanton, Neb., native has recorded 2,487 assists, 690 digs, 97 kills and 94 aces.
Burtwistle and Concordia are preparing to host Mount Marty (9-8, 2-2 GPAC) at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will also welcome Dordt (1-9, 0-4 GPAC) to Friedrich Arena for a 4 p.m. first serve on Saturday.
