Bulldogs fall to SD School of Mines, top Dakota State in Hastings Tournament

Concordia University went 1-1 in the final day of the Hastings College Tournament on Saturday.  The Bulldogs lost a tough match with South Dakota School of Mines by the score of 3-2 and responded to defeat Dakota State 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.  Concordia is 9-6 on the year.  

Scores of the loss to South Dakota School of Mines were 25-23, 20-25, 21-25, 25-23 and 15-10.  Amanda Kisker had a team-high 12 kills for the Bulldogs offensively.  Sloan Brandon added a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Marlee Denton and Chelsea Vaudt each added 10 kills.  Alex Szalawiga chipped in with nine kills and a team-best 13 digs.  Alexa Hopping had 24 set assists, and Kaylie Mellema had 20 assists for the Bulldogs in the loss. 

The Bulldogs cruised past Dakota State by the scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-15.  Brandon had another double-double with a team-high 11 kills and 11 digs to lead the way.  Chelsea Vaudt added eight kills, one solo block and four assisted blocks.  Szalawiga had five kills and nine digs, and Mellema had 12 set assists. 

Concordia returns to conference play on Wednesday evening at Midland Lutheran.
