Bulldogs fall at Morningside College, 3-0

Morningside College picked up a decisive 3-0 GPAC volleyball win over Concordia University on Tuesday evening in Sioux City.  Scores were 25-13, 25-23 and 25-13.  The Mustangs improved to 14-10 overall and 5-5 in conference play with the victory.  Concordia dropped to 11-13 overall and 1-8 in conference play with the loss. 

Morningside finished with a .319 attack percentage compared to just .136 for Concordia.  Morningside was led by Kaeli Austin’s match-high 13 kills.  Liz Sutherland added eight kills and seven digs, and Erin Downing pounded seven kills.  Monica Iverson had 41 set assists on the evening for the Mustangs.

Sloan Brandon had a team-high eight kills for Concordia in the loss.  Chelsea Vaudt delivered six kills and added two solo and four assisted blocks on the night.  Alexa Hopping handed out 14 set assists, and three players had five digs defensively for the Bulldogs. 

Concordia hosts the University of Sioux Falls on October 16.  The junior varsity match is scheduled for 3 with the varsity match to follow at 4:30 at the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center.
