Bulldogs come up short at Midland Lutheran

Midland Lutheran College picked up a 3-1 GPAC volleyball win over Concordia on Wednesday evening in Fremont.  The Warriors improved to 9-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the win.  Concordia dropped to 9-7 overall on the year with the loss and remained winless in conference play at 0-2.  Scores of the match were 26-24, 20-25, 25-13 and 25-18. 

Katie Dettmer had a match-high 14 kills to lead the way for Midland.  Mackenzie Scheer and Katelyn Kerkman each added nine kills, and Halie Wewel delivered eight kills in a balanced Warrior attack.  Kelsey Abels had a match-high 12 digs.  Becca Gradoville handed out 21 assists, and Kaylie Heberly totaled 20 set assists on the night for Midland. 

Alex Szalawiga had a team-high 11 kills to go along with seven digs for Concordia.  Sloan Brandon and Amanda Kisker added 10 and nine kills, respectively, for the Bulldogs offensively.  Alexa Hopping had a match-high 23 set assists for Concordia. 

Concordia travels to Hastings College on September 22 for a 7:30 pm match against the Broncos.
