Lokke wins International Skeet at Midland Ice-Out

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Ice-Out Invitational hosted by Midland was appropriately named. Immersed in cold and windy conditions, the Concordia University trap and skeet team did its best work in American Skeet at the competition that took place at the Lincoln Trap & Skeet Club on March 10. The event included competitors from 11 different institutions.

Head coach Joel Helmer’s squad placed seventh overall and fourth in American Skeet with a score of 474. The reliable Erin Lokke again reigned supreme among Bulldogs. She scored 44/50 and won International Skeet and placed second in American Skeet (97/100). She hit 25 consecutive targets on the way to victory.

Sophomore Daniel Cahoon turned in a solid HOA total of 326, placing second on the team. Concordia’s top five also included Brook Wagner (309), Dustin Renfro (307) and Ethan Cradick (307). In sporting clays, Hannah Wiedebush shot a personal best (76).

The Ice-Out Invite marked the seventh outing of the season and first of the spring for the Bulldogs. They will compete again at the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships in San Antonio, Texas, March 26 – April 1.
