BRAINARD, Neb. – For the first time this season, the Concordia University trap and skeet team hosted its own event. The field at the Concordia Sporting Clays Invitational (Oct. 7) included 108 shooters from nine different collegiate institutions that convened upon Oak Creek Sporting Club in Brainard, Neb. Additionally, a high school division featured 19 competitors. Among the teams that qualified for the collegiate leaderboard, the Bulldogs placed sixth out of eight.
The Concordia Invitational marked the fourth outing of the fall for head coach Joel Helmer’s squad. Junior Ethan Cradick highlighted the Bulldogs’ efforts by hitting 298/350 targets for a 21st place finish. Regular standout Erin Lokke did not compete at this particular meet.
Following Cradick in the team’s top five were senior Seth Willard (291/350), freshmen Mackenze Origer (287/350) and Sabra Moore (286/350) and sophomore Luke Comstock (282/350). Moore finished second high overall among female shooters. She also placed third in super sporting (81/100).
The season will continue on Saturday (Oct. 14) with the SCTP Central Region Open Championship at Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island, Neb. Just two tournaments remain on the fall schedule before the season resumes again in the spring.
