
SEWARD, Neb. – On the heels of a school record performance, freshman Makenna Starkey was honored on Wednesday (Feb. 18) by the GPAC. The league office recognized Starkey as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Concordia University, Track & Field has pulled in a total of seven GPAC Athlete of the Week awards this indoor season.
A freshman from Minden, Neb., Starkey won the high jump competition at the Concordia Invite on Feb. 14. She cleared 5’ 7” in the event, equaling a school record she now shares with alum Allie Brooks. Starkey leads the GPAC and ranks sixth nationally on the high jump performance lists. Starkey has locked up a spot at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Starkey will have the honor of competing in national championship events in two separate sports having also played at the NAIA Volleyball National Championship tournament in the fall.
Starkey and her teammates are gearing up for this weekend’s GPAC Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Dordt. The meet schedule can be found HERE.
