SEWARD, Neb. – A school record-breaking performance on Feb. 5 has led to sophomore Josie Puelz being named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday (Feb. 10). Puelz has earned the GPAC award for the second time in three weeks. The Concordia University Women’s Track & Field team has raked in five GPAC athlete of the week honors this indoor season.

A product of Lincoln Lutheran High School, Puelz currently tops the NAIA national list in the pole vault thanks to last week’s personal best clearance of 13’ 4 ½” at the Concordia Classic. That mark broke the previous school record of 13’ 4 ¼” by former teammate Allie Brooks. From a national perspective, Puelz continues to compete closely with Aquinas College (Mich.)’s Victoria Faber (13’ 1 ½”), the 2020 NAIA indoor national champion. Puelz placed third nationally for an All-America performance. She is also the defending GPAC champion.

Puelz and her Bulldog teammates will return to action this Saturday as the program hosts the Concordia Indoor Invite.
