CRETE / LINCOLN, Neb. – Adrianna Rodencal grabs the headline again after smoldering her way to a head turning performance at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational as part of weekend (Feb. 6-7) action for Concordia University, Nebraska Track & Field. Rodencal won the 60-meter hurdles at the Husker Invite and shattered her own school record. Meanwhile, Adysen McCarter eclipsed her school triple jump standard (again) and Bulldog athletes combined for six event championships at the Fred Beile Classic hosted by Doane.

Head Coach Matt Beisel’s nationally rated squads (13th on the men’s side and 16th on the women’s side) continue to draw nearer to the GPAC indoor championship meet. As Beisel noted, the two teams are still fighting through the flu bug that has been doing around.

“I think we got some good work done,” Beisel said. “We moved some marks up on the national and conference lists. Next week, we will go at it with the Concordia Invite and see what we can do.”

The Lincoln Lutheran alum Rodencal continues pushing the boundaries of her competitive greatness. In Friday’s action at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, out-hurdled the field in both the prelims and the finals. In the prelims, she ran a new personal best of 8.38 before finding another gear that catapulted her across the finish line in an astounding 8.26 seconds for one of the fastest 60-meter hurdle times ever run by an NAIA women’s athlete. Rodencal won the competition at the Husker Invite while besting a large field of NCAA Division I and II athletes. Incredibly, she’s run eight 60-meter hurdles times faster than any women’s athlete in the NAIA this season. In addition, Rodencal went ahead and clocked an NAIA ‘B’ standard of 24.96 in the 200 meters at the Husker Invite.

Plenty of other highlights came out of the meet at UNL. Owner of the fastest nonconverted 60-meter dash time in school history, freshman Avery Eaves put himself third on the school’s 200-meter list while running 22.05 at the Husker Invite. Eaves also ran another sub-7.0 (6.95) in the 60 meters. Elsewhere on the banked track at the Devaney Center, Lucas Corwin (1:23.15) and Trenton Kumm (1:23.51) produced 600-meter times that rank top 15 in school history. Additionally, Hadleigh Collison clocked an indoor PR in the 400 meters (1:01.07) and Liam Fagan ran 51.73 in the 400. Eaves, Corwin and Fagan were joined on the men’s 4x400-meter relay by Grant Kehren. They ran a time of 3:22.77.

A sophomore from Overton, Neb., McCarter has shown she can consistently land marks greater than 39 feet in the triple jump. He latest school record came in at 39’ 3” as she placed second at the Husker Invite. At the Beile Classic, Makenna Starkey won the high jump as she repeated a B standard clearance of 5’ 5 ¼.”

The Beile Classic included athletes from 11 institutions. The Concordia event champions from that meet were Marissa Heins in the unseeded shot put (42’ 8”) and unseeded weight throw (52’ 7 ½”), Trey Robertson in the 5,000 meters (15:39.66), Justin Sherman in the mile (4:34.28), Starkey in the high jump and Alison Stepanek in the 5,000 meters (19:49.90). Heins put herself in the top 30 nationally in both throwing events with her personal bests on Saturday.

It was a solid day in the women’s shot put as four Bulldogs threw greater than 40 feet: Heins, Brittni Kinne, Ailyah Sinn and Harper Boche. The team’s top men’s shot putter was Cooper Stokebrand. In the weight throw, top marks came from Josiah Edwards (57’ ¾”) and Boche (53’ 8 ¼”). As noted by Beisel, Sawyer Deters put forth two personal bests at the Beile Classic. In rounding out the field events, Jax Jacobson placed second in the men’s pole vault while clearing 14’ 5 ¼.”

The two 5k races were made up mostly of Bulldogs. Ransom Watts followed closely behind Robertson in a time of 15:40.31. On the women’s side, Annika Staab (19:57.14) joined Stepanek with a sub-20-minute effort. In the women’s mile, Ashley Robertson ran 5:24.44 and placed fourth. Keith Siek (4:34.55 mile) ran neck and neck with Sherman in the men’s mile.
