SEWARD, Neb. – What Adrianna Rodencal is doing is not normal. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has taken notice. On Monday (Feb. 9), the organization honored Rodencal as its Women’s NAIA National Track & Field Athlete of the Week. The award is based on Rodencal's performances at last week’s Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Rodencal has run eight separate 60-meter hurdle times faster than any other NAIA women’s athlete this season. At the Husker Invite, Rodencal clocked in at 8.38 in the prelims and 8.26 in the finals, beating out a field made up largely of NCAA Division I and II competitors while also improving upon her NAIA leading time. The Lincoln Lutheran High School alum also ran a 200-meter personal best of 24.96 (NAIA B standard) at the Husker Invite. In addition to pacing the NAIA in the 60 hurdles, Rodencal sports NAIA national rankings of 11th as part of the 4x4 relay, 17th in the pentathlon, 18th in the 400 meters and 26th in the 200 meters.

The national recognition is just the latest accolade for Rodencal, a four-time NAIA All-American and four-time GPAC Track Athlete of the Year. Rodencal owns all Concordia women’s indoor and outdoor hurdles school records and is listed atop the record book as part of the 4x100-meter relay. She is a 10-time GPAC champion and owner of GPAC championship meet records in all hurdles events.
