Entering the meet, head coach Matt Beisel’s squads own NAIA national ratings of 10th on the women’s side and 25th on the men’s side, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association calculation. The NAIA’s No. 1 ranked teams are British Columbia for women and Cumberlands (Ky.) for men.
This is the last hurrah for five-time All-American and five-time GPAC Athlete of the Year Adrianna Rodencal. The indoor 60-meter hurdle national champion will look to improve upon her 2025 outdoor national meet when she placed second in the 400-meter hurdles, third in the 100-meter hurdles and seventh as part of the 4x400-meter relay. Rodencal’s plate will be full with the same three events, in addition to the 4x1 relay, at this week’s meet. In both relays, Rodencal will be joined by three-time All-American Kayla Kirchner, also a senior. Each of Concordia’s nine women’s qualifiers have previous experience competing in at least one national meet. Outside of Rodencal and relays, the Bulldog national qualifiers include Harper Boche (hammer / shot put), Adysen McCarter (triple jump), Josi Noble (400 hurdles), Addie Reimer (high jump) and Makenna Starkey (high jump). Noble also has one past All-America award to her credit (4x4 relay).
The men’s program placed seventh in the NAIA at the 2024 outdoor national meet. Of the 10 Bulldog men’s athletes headed to Asheville, two own All-America medals: Nathan Baldwin (2025 discus / 2026 weight) and Jonny ‘The Jet’ Jurchen (twice in the indoor race walk). Jurchen will be joined in the race walk competition by five-time national qualifier Luke Hammang. Meanwhile, Baldwin will be accompanied in North Carolina by throwing teammates Josiah Edwards and Emry Gutz. The two-time GPAC javelin champion Gutz and Hank Moore (decathlon) are first time national qualifiers. On the track, Lucas Corwin will run the 800 meters and anchor the 4x8 relay that includes Keith Siek, Trenton Kumm and Justin Sherman. That relay crew won the GPAC indoor 4x8 title.
Both Bulldog programs have won an NAIA outdoor national championship in their history – 2015 for the men and 2016 for the women. During Beisel’s tenure (2017-present), the Concordia track programs have earned a total of seven NAIA top-four team trophies with six coming on the women’s side and one on the men’s side. The men placed as the NAIA indoor national runner up in 2017 while the women have placed third four separate times (and fourth twice) since 2017.
