Overview
Throughout the 2025-26 indoor season, Concordia has hosted four home meets while also competing at Doane’s Scott Nisely Memorial Classic and Fred Beile Classic and two meets hosted by the University of Nebraska. To date, Bulldog athletes have combined for six ‘A’ and 10 ‘B’ national qualifying standards (as listed below). Fresh NAIA auto standards came last week from Adrianna Rodencal in the 400 meters and Makenna Starkey in the high jump. Other big moves (from a national perspective) were made by Evan Hill and Jax Jacobson in the pole vault, by Jonny Jurchen and his fellow racewalkers and by the men’s 4x800-meter relay as part of last week’s Concordia Invite.
How much of a load will Rodencal shoulder this weekend? It’s a major conference storyline for the Bulldog superstar who swept 2025 GPAC Athlete of the Meet awards. At last season’s indoor conference meet at Dakota Wesleyan, Rodencal won titles in the 60 hurdles, 200 meters and as part of the 4x400-meter relay while also placing second in the 60 meters. Rodencal will take aim at breaking her own GPAC meet record of 8.49 in the 60 hurdles. Other current conference leaders for Concordia on the women’s side include school record holders Adysen McCarter in the triple jump and Starkey in the high jump. The Bulldogs are capable of being a major threat in the 4x4 if they can put together their top grouping featuring McCarter, Rodencal and sisters Kayla and Tayden Kirchner. In addition, pentathlete Josi Noble has been a multi-event GPAC champion in the past (2024 outdoor heptathlon).
Entering the GPAC Championships, Josiah Edwards (weight throw), Evan Hill / Jax Jacobson (pole vault), Jonny Jurchen (3,000-meter racewalk) and Hayden Kluthe (60-meter hurdles) each boast top-rated conference marks. The racewalk does not factor into the GPAC team standings, but Jurchen will have another chance to showcase his talent after rising to the top of the national list with a personal best of 12:19.55 last week. In the pole vault, Hill and Jacobson soared to the top of the conference with their breakthrough personal bests of 15’ 9 ¼” at the Concordia Invite. As for Kluthe, his PR of 8.04 is a 60-hurdles school record. In the sprints, freshman sprinter Avery Eaves sits top five in the conference in the 60 and 200 meters. Meanwhile, Nathan Baldwin holds down top five GPAC marks in the shot put and weight throw.
Bulldogs with top-rated GPAC marks

Head Coach Matt Beisel is in his 10th season leading both the cross country and track programs. He’s been named a GPAC Coach of the Year 12 times (once for cross country). All 12 of his conference championships have come on the women’s side. The women’s track program put together a recent string of 11 straight GPAC championships that spanned the 2019 indoor through 2024 outdoor seasons. The most recent GPAC title for the men’s program occurred at the 2015 conference outdoor meet.
