At last week’s conference championship, Head Coach Matt Beisel’s squads earned place finishes of third on the women’s side (139 points) and fifth on the men’s side (103.5 points). Bulldog athletes were responsible for three of the six new conference meet records. National champion Adrianna Rodencal reset her own standards in the 100-meter hurdles (13.14) and 400-meter hurdles (58.36) while Jonny Jurchen broke the meet record in the 5,000-meter race walk (21:34.19). Rodencal pulled in GPAC Most Outstanding Athlete of the Meet accolades for the fifth time in her career. She scored 24.5 points when factoring in her contributions in two relays.

In addition to Jurchen and Rodencal, Bulldogs who claimed GPAC titles were the women’s 4x400-meter relay, Emry Gutz (javelin) and Trey Robertson (3,000-meter steeplechase). The 4x4 was made up of Adysen McCarter, Rodencal, Tayden Kirchner and Kayla Kirchner. Concordia’s list of GPAC runners up included the women’s 4x1 relay, Nathan Baldwin (hammer), Habegger (race walk), Hayden Kluthe (110 hurdles), McCarter (400 meters) and Kiki Nyanok (long jump).

Fresh automatic national qualifying standards were turned in at the conference meet by the women’s 4x4 (3:47.14), Gutz in the javelin (205’ 8”) and Luke Hammang in the race walk (23:25.07). The women’s 4x4 broke the school record, formerly 3:47.26 (2022 NAIA National Championships). New B standards came from Josi Noble in the 400 hurdles (1:02.26) and the men’s 4x800-meter relay (7:41.01). The 4x8 was made up of Keith Siek, Trenton Kumm, Justin Sherman and Lucas Corwin.

In the USTFCCCA NAIA national ratings released on Tuesday (May 5), Concordia landed at No. 13 on the women’s side and at No. 24 on the men’s side. Through the GPAC Championships, Bulldog athletes have combined for a total of 16 marks that meet at least the NAIA B national qualifying standard (as listed below). Athletes who rank inside the top 16 of their respective events at the conclusion of the season become automatic national qualifiers. The women’s team ranks near the top 10 nationally on the strength of NAIA best marks for Rodencal in both hurdles events. The men currently boast three of the top 14 individuals on the national race walk performance list.

The Concordia Twilight field has annually featured a large field of athletes from NAIA institutions – and often NCAA institutions. For some Bulldog athletes, Friday’s meet will represent the final one of their college careers. It will mark the second home meet of the 2026 outdoor season, which included the Concordia Invite on April 6.

Official NAIA national qualifiers will be announced next week by the NAIA. The outdoor national meet is headed to a new host location: Karl Strauss Track in Asheville, N.C. The 2026 NAIA Outdoor Championships are slated to take place May 20-22. For more information on the national championships, click HERE.
