SEWARD, Neb. – The indoor regular season will conclude with the fourth and final 2026 indoor home meet for Concordia University, Nebraska Track & Field. As compared to the Concordia Classic two weeks earlier, the Concordia Indoor Invitational will be smaller in scale with fewer athletes and teams congregating inside the Walz Fieldhouse. The first action on Saturday is slated for 12 p.m. CT as field events kick off and the racewalk commences. This will be the final outing prior to the GPAC Championships for Head Coach Matt Beisel’s squads.

Through six weeks of indoor meets, Bulldog athletes have combined for four automatic national qualifying standards and nine NAIA ‘B’ national qualifying standards. The most significant happenings last week from a national perspective came as a result of the performances of Adrianna Rodencal and Adysen McCarter. Both Concordia standouts put themselves to the test against top flight athletes at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational (Feb. 6-7). Rodencal broke her own 60-meter hurdles record while improving upon her own NAIA national leading time. Rodencal also added a fresh B standard with a PR in the 200 meters. Meanwhile, McCarter increased her program standard triple jump mark and placed second at the Husker Invite.
Concordia national qualifying marks
· A – Jack Habegger: 3,000-meter racewalk (13:33.52)
· A – Jonny Jurchen: 3,000-meter racewalk (12:30.61)
· A – Adysen McCarter: triple jump (39’ 3”)
· A – Adrianna Rodencal: 60-meter hurdles (8.26)
· B – Women’s 4x400-meter relay (3:54.26)
· B – Nathan Baldwin: weight throw (57’ 8 ¼”)
· B – Josiah Edwards: weight throw (59’ 2 ¼”)
· B – Luke Hammang: 3,000-meter racewalk (14:58.38)
· B – Hayden Kluthe: 60-meter hurdles (8.04)
· B – Sam Olson: 3,000-meter racewalk (15:39.27)
· B – Adrianna Rodencal: 200 meters (24.96)
· B – Adrianna Rodencal: 400 meters (57.18)
· B – Makenna Starkey: high jump (5’ 5 ¼”)
NOTE: Adrianna Rodencal and Josi Noble currently rank 17th and 19th, respectively, on the NAIA women’s pentathlon national list.
The exploits of Rodencal deserve further discussion. In light of her achievements at the Husker Invite, the Lincoln Lutheran High School alum was named the NAIA National Women’s Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday afternoon. Incredibly, Rodencal has run eight separate 60-meter hurdle times faster than any other NAIA women’s athlete this season. At the Husker Invite, Rodencal clocked in at 8.38 in the prelims and 8.26 in the finals, beating out a field made up largely of NCAA Division I and II competitors. In addition to leading the NAIA in the 60 hurdles, Rodencal sports NAIA national rankings of 11th as part of the 4x4 relay, 17th in the pentathlon, 18th in the 400 meters and 26th in the 200 meters. According to the USTFCCCA, only three women’s athletes in the history of the NAIA have run faster than 8.26 in the 60 hurdles.
As a freshman, Avery Eaves has been making waves on the track. At the Husker Invite, he ran times of 6.95 in the 60 meters and 22.05 in the 200 meters (a PR that ranks No. 3 on the school all-time list). At last week’s Beile Classic, Concordia event champions were Marissa Heins in the unseeded shot put (42’ 8”) and unseeded weight throw (52’ 7 ½”), Trey Robertson in the 5,000 meters (15:39.66), Justin Sherman in the mile (4:34.28), Makenna Starkey in the high jump and Alison Stepanek in the 5,000 meters (19:49.90). Heins put herself in the top 30 nationally in both throwing events with her personal bests on Saturday.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has now released two sets of national ratings this indoor season. In the NAIA ratings announced last Tuesday (Feb. 3), the Bulldogs landed at No. 13 on the men's side and at No. 16 on the women's side. The ratings are calculated based on the individual national performance lists. For a look at the USTFCCCA ratings, click HERE.
The 2026 GPAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place Feb. 20-21 and will be hosted by Dordt. The ’26 indoor campaign will then conclude at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships (March 5-7) at Alachua County Sports & Events Center at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville, Fla.
