From Concordia’s perspective, Adrianna Rodencal headlined the Hastings Invite as she clocked NAIA automatic national qualifying standards in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles with respective times of 13.46 and 1:01.36. The Lincoln Lutheran alum moved into the top three of this season’s NAIA national lists in both events. Additionally, Nathan Baldwin (discus) and Abby Gerber (shot put) improved upon existing A standards in the throws. Collectively, Bulldog athletes have combined for 10 marks that have met at least the NAIA B national qualifying standard this 2025 outdoor season (full list below).

National Qualifying Standards Achieved by Bulldogs:

·        A – Nathan Baldwin: discus (178’ 10”)

·        A – Abby Gerber: shot put (47’ 11 ¼”)

·        A – Mayson Ostermeyer: pole vault (16’ 6 ¾”)

·        A – Adrianna Rodencal: 100-meter hurdles (13.46); 400-meter hurdles (1:01.36)

·        B – Connor Asche: hammer throw (180’ 10”)

·        B – Matthew Boyer: javelin (198’ 9”)

·        B – Luke Hammang: 5,000-meter race walk (25:50.36)

·        B – Jonny Jurchen: 5,000-meter race walk (25:24.08)

·        B – Abi Wohlgemuth: hammer throw (170’ 6”)

Beisel and his staff have entered 17 field event athletes into the KU relays. Concordia will be especially well-represented in Lawrence in the throws and in the pole vault. After running the 100 meters last week in Hastings, Mayson Ostermeyer will get back to the vault this weekend. The Crofton, Neb., currently ranks No. 2 on the NAIA men’s pole vault list with his personal best of 16’ 6 ¾.” In the throws, the following Bulldogs rank top 10 nationally: Gerber (No. 2 in the shot put), Baldwin (No. 4 in the discus) and Wohlgemuth (No. 6 in the hammer).

Meanwhile, the Dutcher Memorial will get started on Wednesday with the decathlon and heptathlon. Throws will get underway on Thursday before the bulk of the meet unfolds on Friday in Crete. The Dutcher Memorial will mark Concordia’s only venture to Doane this outdoor season.

Both Bulldog squads moved up in this week’s NAIA Track & Field Rating Index released by the USTFCCCA. Thanks in large part to Rodencal’s new hurdles times, the women leapt to a No. 18 national rating (from 28th the previous week) while the men jumped one spot to No. 19. The USTFCCCA also provides ratings for specific event groupings. Check the latest ratings HERE.

Coming up next week, the Bulldogs will make appearances at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite (April 24), the prestigious Drake Relays (April 24-26) and the University of Kansas Rock Chalk Classic (April 26). Those meets will be the final outings prior to the 2025 GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 2-3).
