SEWARD, Neb. – Six individuals combined for 11 total All-America performances throughout the 2018 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. The group includes five Bulldogs who reached the podium at last week’s (May 24-26) 2018 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Foremost among these honorees are national champions Samantha Liermann (indoor shot put) and Adrianna Shaw (outdoor discus).

There have now been 56 individual national titles in the history of Concordia University track and field. Liermann just missed out on her third career shot put national title, placing as the runner up in the event last week. Liermann is one of four females in program history to win multiple national championships. The others are Carol Bailey, Stephanie Beberniss and Liz King. Meanwhile, Shaw became the latest in an impressive line of national champion throwers. Assistant coach Ed McLaughlin has mentored 14 throws national titlists since the start of the 2014 track seasons.

In 2018 alone, Jacob Cornelio, Liermann, Johanna Ragland and Shaw each found All-America glory at both the indoor and outdoor national championships. Another stellar throws group accounted for 10 of the 11 Concordia All-America awards over this past year. Additionally, Cody Williams earned an All-America award in the heptathlon at the indoor championships.
